Portrait of Britain: The Face of a Changing Nation

Portrait of Britain: The Face of a Changing Nation

Full of hope and humanity, these portraits and their accompanying stories capture some of the individuals behind the country’s collective resilience.

2020
has changed the face of Britain as we know it. It’s the
year when people joined in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter
movement and in which our daily lives and sense of community have
shifted with the impact
COVID-19
.

Full of hope and humanity, these portraits and their
accompanying stories capture some of the individuals behind the
country’s collective resilience.

The album comes from the third and latest instalment of the
Portrait
of Britain
, an annual award and publication by the British
Journal of Photography and Hoxton Mini Press.

Gathering photos – many taken during lockdown – from across the
UK, it sheds light on the lives of frontline workers and
protestors, provides a window into homeschooling and
socially-distanced celebrations as well as an artful take on the
DIY haircut.

Portrait of Britain Vol. 3 is published by
Hoxton Mini Press.

The Lowdown
