A few weeks ago, a flock of talented trailblazers and pioneering creatives came together to celebrate the launch of SUITCASE's first-ever destination special: Puerto Rico. The event saw us taking over the sultry and sophisticated Buckle Street Studios by Locke, whose high ceilings, extravagant floral displays and clay-plastered walls became the backdrop to a night of tropical magic.
On arrival, guests were welcomed in a low-lit gallery area showcasing some of our favourite images from the special issue, alongside a live installation by artist Roots, who transformed a surfboard into a majestic mural as we watched, spellbound. Thanks to our good friends at Casa Bacardi, glasses were never not filled with a stellar rum blend.
Upstairs, DJ Swoose took to the decks, spinning Caribbean classics and inviting guests to dance the night away. Between busting a move and scoffing plates of spicy tacos (shoutout to Nobody's Cafe for delivering the goods), we were all also invited to take part in a cocktail masterclass led by a brilliant Casa Bacardi mixologist, whipping up our own take on a piña colada - a workshop that saw some of us consider a career change.
As the night drew to a close, our fellow visionaries departed with canvas tote bags filled with postcards from the island - and the issue in hand, too, obvs. In true SUITCASE style, the afterparty was only just getting started, but we'll spare you those details.
