Standard needs no introduction. The group’s first hotel
outside the US – catch them in NYC,
LA
and Miami –
fast became one of the hottest hangouts on the London scene. Taking
up residency in the long-abandoned former Camden Town Hall Annex in
the rejuvenated neighbourhood of King’s Cross St Pancras, it
couldn’t be better connected.

The brutalist behemoth of a building sets the tone for The Standard‘s signature interior design quirks and
devil-may-care attitude towards convention, which attracts equally
colourful patrons. This is where the movers and shakers hang out –
don’t be surprised if you spot a familiar face swilling a whisky
cocktail at the see-and-be-seen Transport-for London-inspired
bar.

More than just a hotel, The Standard’s multiple spaces to eat,
drink, greet and lounge make it a honeypot for creative-cool kids
and the place to be in the capital when the weekend drops.

Rooms

Ranging from cosy rooms to sprawling terrace suites complete
with an al fresco jet-powered bathtub, The Standard caters to all;
solo travellers in town for business (think media types rather than
corporate city folk) as well as those in London for a no-holds
barred hedonistic break.

A zany, mid-century aesthetic pervades – think old-school James
Bond vibes, with teak-accented wood, brown-leather furnishings,
splashes of colour and lust-worthy retro light fittings.

What’s for breakfast?

Head to Double Standard for porridge, avo toast and the like,
though we’d rather linger a little longer over an all-out American
brunch of syrupy banana pancakes, brunch dogs and bottomless bloody
marys.

How about lunch and dinner?

Double Standard is perfect for a hearty salad or burger come
lunch, while snacks and picky bits make for ideal sharing fodder
alongside the cocktail menu in the evening.

Weather permitting, make tracks to pretty Isla for seasonal
dishes and a natural wine list on the terrace.

For a more refined affair, jump in the lift to the rooftop
Decimo for Spanish-meets-Mexican small plates in seductive
surrounds.
