To
To
eat is to drink in this Tuscan coastal town and its beachside
surroundings. Where there’s food, there’s wine, and where there are
spirits, there are snacks. Head out to the beach clubs beyond the city limits for a night of
cocktails accompanied by pasta, sea breeze in your hair, or stay in
the historic centre for decadent reds by the glass paired with
traditional Tuscan plates.
bar
Caffè al Teatro
This place opposite the town’s main church is a regular haunt
for born-and-bred Pietrasanta locals: its candlelit cloisters make
a fine spot for a post-dinner digestif. We would tell you to ask
for the ever-charismatic Stefano, the bar’s owner, but we’re almost
certain that he’ll make himself known to you. The menu is typically
Tuscan – think stews, risottos and carpaccio platters aplenty.
bar
Bar Pietrasantese
To pedestrians, Bar Pietrasantese might look like any other
sun-soaked piazza spot, but if you follow the corridor to the
bathrooms and keep going, you’ll discover a hidden bar frequented
only by those in the know. Keep this one to yourself, grazie.
bar
Bar Michelangelo
Bar Michelangelo takes its name from the legendary Renaissance
artist, who reportedly once lived above this humble watering hole.
It’s dripping in history (quite literally, sometimes) and one of
the more relaxed places to grab a drink on the Piazza Duomo.
bar
Twiga Forte dei Marmi
You’ll have to dig deep – a night here doesn’t come cheap – but
if there’s a bar worth driving out of town for, it’s this
fun-loving beach club near Forte dei Marmi. Cocoon yourself away
from the world in one of the four-poster beach beds – just you and
a bowl of divine spaghetti alle vongole.
