Stollen 1930
Good luck finding this speakeasy-style hideaway. The entrance is misleadingly plastered with posters – a deliberate ploy to deter less discerning night owls – but once inside, a rocky tunnel opens up. Buried in the cavernous underbelly of the five-star Auracher Loechl hotel, it’s first and foremost a gin bar (in their words, “the world’s greatest”) and serves 850 varieties of the stuff. Like all great bars, it toes the line between intimate and lively, and is well positioned right in the city centre.

Vitus und Urban
While the dizzyingly decorated Arte Hotel Kufstein perhaps tries a little too hard to prove its creative flair, the hotel’s in-house wine bar and restaurant, Vitus and Urban, is a chic enclave dressed in earthy tones and simple modernist furniture. Small plates are divine compositions of mountain grub, providing perfect fodder for getting stuck into some top-notch local wines. Once a month, Vitus and Urban give their space up to local artists for poetry slams, exhibitions and live-music performances.

Kufabar
Kufa (an amalgamation of kultur and fabrik, translating to “culture factory”) is more than just a watering hole. Those looking for evening entertainment should head here after dinner in town for a mish-mash of musical acts ranging from rock ‘n’ roll bands to heavy-metal throwdowns and open-mic nights on Thursdays.
