bar

Alcatraz

Brewing coffee by day and mixing cocktails by night, this teeny-tiny bar’s sandy location can’t be beaten – it’s plonked right on Perranporth Beach. Any closer to the shore and you’d be balancing a pint on your board while you paddle. Occupying a Second World War shelter that’s been repurposed into a surf shack-style bar, this is a spot for sundowners and a carousel of tappable shots for Instagram.

The Watering Hole

What started life as a humble hut dishing out deckchairs and tinnies in the 70s has grown into a sprawling toes-in-the-sand beach bar spread across Cornwall’s best dunes. Its annual Tunes in the Dunes music festival has helped put Perranporth on the map with past rockers including Craig David, Tom Jones and Bananarama. Visiting midweek? Expect a no-fuss, lo-fi affair: pints on the sand serenaded by locals bands.
