Bierol Taproom and Restaurant
These guys are known for their steins – Oktoberfest’s offerings haven’t got a patch on their strictly local brews. This bierkeller is all about on-site produce, with each of their beers coming straight out of hulking great fermentation tanks wedged in the brewery behind and poured by a dedicated beer sommelier. Opt for their pairing menu to sample their full range alongside a menu of steaks and rustic fare like tafelspitz – a classic Tirolean boiled beef broth. Don’t retire too early; there’s music after dark, too.

Aschinger Alm
Aschinger Alm is a postcard-perfect Austrian farmhouse, complete with freshly planted window boxes and colourful shutters. Almhouses (not to be confused with almshouses) are mountain-side barns used to house cattle in the summer. But fret not, Aschinger Alm’s culinary offering extends far beyond hay. Instead, buckle up for a lesson in traditional Austrian cuisine. Think schnitzel, nudelsuppe (noodle broth) and Tiroler gröstl – a potato, bacon and onion hash that is typical of the region.

Blumencafe Hodnerhof
Blumencafe (“flower café” in English) is so-called for its position at the centre of Blumenwelt Hodnerhof, or Flower World – a 17,000m sq plot rippling with mint, French lavender and other aromatic herbs. The industrial, slate-grey building is lined with factory-style windows and dotted with concrete pots which froth with laceworks of palm leaves. The vibe is more Copenhagen than Tirol and it’s really a light lunch pit stop rather than a full-works restaurant, but we’re suckers for its contemporary outfitting and fragrant surroundings.
