Where to Shop in St Agnes, Cornwall

St Agnes is where Cornwall’s past and present meet. Eco brands, legends of giant-slaying and scenery straight out of an episode of Poldark make for an intoxicating and unique mix. We’ve found the best hotels, restaurants, pubs, shops and places to visit.

Trunk Deli

The latest independent addition to the village’s high street, Trunk Deli seems confusingly named until you realise that everything in store is designed perfectly to compliment a picnic hamper, or in this case, a picnic trunk. Charcuterie, wines, cheese and flowers (the majority of which are sourced locally) lend themselves to gift hampers and gourmet picnicking. Buy a trunk and fill it with all of your favourite snacks or hire one complete with blankets and crockery during the summer for lunch on the beach. Candles, accessories and flowers are supplied by Love and Honor.

Driftwood Spars Brewery

You might associate trips to the beach with the smell of chips, battered fish and suncream. You probably don’t associate it with the smell of hops, but that’s exactly what greets you when you arrive at Trevaunance Cove. Driftwood Spars Brewery supplies not only the Driftwood Spars, one of the town’s most popular watering holes just across the road, but various outlets across the county. Unlike many breweries, all the hops it uses are grown in the UK. Knowing that we’re supporting local, we’ll buy another crate please.

Finisterre

Finisterre is St Agnes’s most famous export, a sustainable outdoors clothing brand that has gained a nationwide celebrity status. Functional, fashionable, and packaged with recyclable materials, it would be a sacrilege to visit St Agnes and not return home with an Econyl bikini or recycled fabric jacket. Finisterre puffer jackets are practically a uniform here.

Surfers Against Sewage

We’ve all walked along a seemingly pristine beach only to find, upon closer inspection, discarded plastic water bottles, ring pulls and cigarette butts littering the shoreline. From its base in Wheal Kitty, Surfers Against Sewage aims to change all of this, organising beach cleans and educational talks across the country. Support its work by buying ethical clothing and gifts from their flagship shop, or get involved in a local beach clean during your stay.
