Where to Shop in Lyme Regis, Dorset

shopping

Ammonite Fine Foods

A smorgasbord of West Country produce, the family-run Ammonite Fine Foods is a go-to for a taste of Lyme and its surrounds. Take advantage of the countertop tasters as you peruse shelves stacked with Dorset knobs, clotted-cream fudge and traditional honey mead from the nearby Lyme Bay Winery. No judgement if you bring an extra tote to stash truckles of house-made mustard-and-ale cheddar for the journey home.

The Sanctuary

A bookshop for book lovers, The Sanctuary couldn’t be more aptly named. Stacked tomes tumble around the shelves; old artwork and vintage ephemera nestle in nooks. Special collections are dedicated to Beardsley, occultist Osman Spare, ex-libris erotica and rare editions by former local boy John Fowles. Thought you’d done perusing? Slink down the narrow stairs and you’ll find a sofa surrounded by decades worth of National Geographics.

Ryder & Hope

The coolest kid on Lyme Regis’ postcard-perfect high street, Ryder & Hope fills a Grade II-listed, double-fronted building with the kind of design-led edit of utilitarian homeware we wish we had in our own pads. Ostrich-feather dusters, stone-washed hammam towels and enamel pitchers share shelves with locally made lifestyle products, including oak-recessed mirrors and alpaca socks made in house by Ryder & Hope.
