Famous
Famous
for gorgeous wines, colonial buildings and a (relatively)
lively nightlife, the charming city of Salta beguiles visitors with
its insouciant attitude and laid-back atmosphere. Tucked away in
the northwest of Argentina, visitors often overlook the capital of
the wider Salta region when hurrying out to the vineyards and
sceneries of the surrounding areas. Those who do stay find a place
with one foot in the past and another firmly planted in the
present. Thanks to its many contrasts, you can tap along to
traditional folkloric music in the peñas before heading out to a
drum ‘n’ bass night in a heaving club.
While the afternoon is dedicated to siesta, you can spend
mornings and evenings walking around Salta’s narrow streets.
Nighttime is a different story and arguably when the city really
comes to life. Dine late at one of the many parillas, with plenty
of local wine, then dance until dawn.
