Mercado Municipal San Miguel
Salta, Argentina
This varied market sells everything from locally made souvenirs and handmade pieces to fresh fruit, vegetables and cooked foods. It’s the ideal place to stock up on textiles to bring home, or extra layers for Salta’s chilly winter evenings. It’s a bit off the beaten track, but you can find some well-made pieces for a fraction of the price they sell for in the more touristy spots.

Iglesia San Francisco
Salta, Argentina
Salta doesn’t get much more picture-perfect than the Iglesia San Francisco. The carmine-red exterior is offset with yellow lettering and white pillars that make up its striking effect. One of South America’s tallest and prettiest churches, it must be on your to-do list.
