Lodhi Gardens

Delhi, India

The beautifully landscaped Lodhi Gardens are speckled with historical monuments, bridges and mosques. Widely regarded as the “green lung” of Delhi, it’s as popular a site for ecology (spot kingfishers, babblers and parakeets) and heritage, as it is a gym for the city’s elite (it has a 2km running track). Best avoided on weekends and public holidays – unless you enjoy crowds.

Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Nataraja Centre

Delhi, India

Sivananda are among the world’s most highly regarded ashrams for good reason, and their outpost in Delhi more than does their part. 1100 Walks

Delhi, India

These walks have all been designed to showcase what’s innovative and unique in the city (1100 is Delhi’s postal code prefix). You can choose anything from a design-focused tour which will teach you how to drape a sari, to food, nature, history, art and more. If you’re visiting during a festive month – essentially 11 months of the year – their festival-themed walk will give you decent insight into the vibrancy and enthusiasm that goes into an Indian celebration. Walks are generally scheduled twice-monthly, but you can book private tours by appointment.

Hauz Khas Fort

Delhi, India

Built in the 13th century, this is one of the oldest structures in Delhi and one of the best places to see how green the city is, offering a bird’s eye view of some serious landscapes and a protected lake.
