Dokk 1

Aarhus, Denmark

Named the world’s best library, Dokk 1’s angular exterior and beautifully lit interior show off Danish architecture and design at its finest. There are great harbour views and the building houses the world’s largest tubular bell, which, in true community-focused Danish style, is rung whenever a baby is born in the city via a button in the local hospital. We told you it was cool.

Kulbroen

Aarhus, Denmark

Keep an eye out for events at Kulbroen, a flourishing creative space in a post-industrial setting under a coal bridge just south of Dokk 1. Inspired by the New York High Line, it’s home to street art, food stalls, music festivals and other parties and events all summer long. Until then, visitors are encouraged to shoot hoops on the basketball court and make their mark on the graffiti walls.
